Hardware and Display – As the model name suggests, this phone replicates the famous Samsung S8. The look of the phone is a combination of S7 and S8 galaxy. The curve at the back side is like S7 and full-screen display is similar to that of the S8 model. The design is outstanding and one of the best in this inexpensive budget. Most of its features match the S8, like fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone, below the camera. There is a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen as well.

The thickness of the phone is a little more than the Samsung S8, but it is not that prominent. This phone is comparatively easy to hold because of its curvy edges. There is a dual Sim card that also has space for micro SD card. The port is USB type C and the phone set has a dual speaker. The weight of Blackview S8 is 191 grams which are slightly heavier than regular phones. Since the material used in the phones are metal and glass, it has the right amount of heft to call it classy.

The display is of decent eminence considering the rate of the phone. When used outdoors, the screen becomes brighter for easy outdoor watching. It has 282 PPI, and density of this 5.7-inch 720 x 1440 HD. The aspect ratio is 18:9 that gives a taller screen effect, although the mobile app uses 16:9 aspect ratios.  There is no stretching or cropping of the app graphics while display.

Performance and Benchmarks – The daily performance is normal. The apps function well and smoothly. Blackview also supports gaming well. We tested a few games and all of them played well without hanging. The high performance was due to the HD resolution. Talking about flaws, there is one when there is data loading issue with the Wi-Fi Radios.

Considering the range of the phone, multitasking is one of the most excellent features incorporated by Blackview S8. It has a decent processor with a RAM of 4 GB.

Sound Quality – Sound quality is quite good with impressive sound range. This phone’s sound quality can beat even the costlier phones. It has a type C USB with an adapter of 3.5mm pin. The Blue tooth audio is of standard quality that offers SBC audio. This makes the sound decent, but not quite great. The phone speaker is very rudimentary and basic with a small range of sound. The music coming out of the phone lags bass and quality, although it works well when attached to a good loudspeaker.

Battery Life – The battery life is ordinary. It can’t go without charging for a day. The major part of the battery was drained due to the screen. The battery life is not more than 3 hours if used rigorously. The charger is good for 10W charging that charges up to 40% in just 30 minutes.

Software – Android Nougat is used in this system.  It has an updated operating system with no bloatware. It also has a fingerprint scanner for taking pictures or answering the phone call. There are different figure gestures that can be used like to unlock the screen double tap the home button, sliding two fingers, up and down the screen to increase or decrease the media volume and three fingers for the screenshot. Gestures in form of alphabets can help you launch an app. There are five diverse motion gestures used in this phone.

Camera – If you are looking for a camera with this swift camera software, this one is going to disappoint you. The camera software is generally slow due to the processor used because of the low budget. There are options like HDR, flash, and Bokeh but they all take a little time to process since the software is slow.

Analysis –

Pros Cons
Excellent, sleek design Battery life should be better
Phenomenal price and overall value The display can feel a bit dull or washed out
Fast performance The camera can be slow
Better than average display No 3.5mm audio jack

Conclusion – Blackview is a decent phone at a very reasonable rate. Taking its performance into consideration I will conclude that it is a decent phone at an extremely nominal rate. With a 3.5mm audio jack and a type-C USB port for acoustic compatibility, the overall performance of the phone is not exceptional, but impressive. There are many recent software updates on this phone since its first launch. This shows that Blackview is on its foot to rectify all the software bugs. Overall it’s a great value for money. If you don’t have many expectations from your phone and primarily want to use it for taking calls, this is your phone – Simple, inexpensive and economical.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
